Thjis is an extract of all Germanic names for marriagesof residents of the City of Adelaide up to 1920, currently totslling just over 5000. There will be some mistakes as it is often difficult to identify Germans and thjose of German descent merely from indexes. Names are as they are intered in indexed, so there are also spelling mistakes. We have defined Germanic quite broadly and it includes many Scandinavian names as these people were often members of the various Lutheran Churches.
The data will be used to identify German residents in the City of Adelaide for the Heimat Adelaide project, as well as allowing data analysis relating to marriages of Germans. Some interesting initial data has revealed the variety of denominations used for marriage including a surprising number of Unitarian marriages.
