1997

Completing his Bachelor of Arts with a major in Library and Information Management and a sub-major in Australian Culture and History, Benjamin Hollister started on the path of helping those undertaking research.

2009

Ben started to invest more time on his history business, as well as becoming involved in the broader family history community through board position with the SA Genealogy and Heraldry Society and the Association of Professional Genealogists.

2000 - 2009

Benjamin became immersed in adult education through his work with the Royal Lifesaving Society and St John Ambulance in South Australia. This did not stop his work on his own family history or working with the St John Ambulance Historical Society and Museum.

2014

It finally became necessary to keep the two sides of the business, historical research and research assistance, seperate. Roots and Branches continued on as a historical research and records searching concern, and History Helper was created to cover everything else.

2008

While still working with St John Ambulance, Benjamin began to look at history professionally again and began his Graduate Certificate in Applied History and Heritage, as well as starting to take paid work as a genealogist through his business, Roots and Branches Family History Services.

2016

Following some discussions within the South Australian history community and a fortuitous approach by Dirk Weissleder of the DAGV, Benjamin was instrumental in forming the German Australian Genealogy and History Alliance.
