Frakturing Kurrent!?! Reading old German script and print

An introduction for genealogists about the German language, the handwriting (Schrift) and the printing (Fraktur) used in German records. There will be lots of examples and activities for you to learn and practice skills using copies of real records. Attendees are encouraged to bring along laptops or tablets to try activities and to explore resources. Recommended text: Deciphering handwriting in German documents: Analyzing German, Latin, and French in vital records written in Germany by Roger Minert. Bring any information you have to use for activities. Workshop presented by Ben Hollister. BYO lunch.
